Apple loses voice recognition patent case in China

6:55 PM

Apple recently took the Zhizen Internet Technology company to court to prove that they didn't commit patent infringement on the Chinese company's voice recognition software. The Beijing First Intermediate Court however, ruled that Apple's lawsuit was unfounded, and gave a verdict that favored Zhizen.

Apple has decided to not take the ruling lying down, and the company has made its intentions clear: they'll be taking the case to the Beijing Higher People's court:

"Unfortunately, we [Apple] were not aware of Zhizhen's patent before we introduced Siri (speech recognition technology) and we do not believe we are using this patent...while a separate court considers this question, we remain open to reasonable discussions with Zhizhen "

Zhizen made its case way back in 2012, stating that Apple's Siri voice recognition software had infringed upon its patents, and now, it looks like the company might have a legal leg up on Apple after this recent ruling.
